Porah: The language of Dorahn

Postby Tieden on Wed Nov 21, 2007 2:13 am

I now post the first version the our game language that I have been honing for too long. I took many languages in consideration and studied long on linguistics to make this, but please know this is only the beginning and many things could be changed in the future. So if you don't like something or have your own idea then please post.

The language is very simple yet can be very complex at the same time, you should soon see why. Many of the concepts in this language may be new to you and give you a headache just thinking it, I still get headaches and I created it. It's a very abstract language with many words representing feelings, impulses, and concepts that aren't common in languages like English. I first had the idea when I thought what if there was a language where any person can say what they want without it sounding like complete gibberish and the other person can still understand. What if there was a language that allowed complete flexibility with how the person wants to talk and it is still able to understood. And so I had an idea on how to create this.

What if basic words weren't several sounds together but each sound would be a word. And then using these simple words you could then combine them to create much more complex words, and it wouldn't matter too much how things were arranged. I also noted that talking and writing this way, each word you said would be your own created words that anyone could understand. Also theoretically one could say a whole sentence in one word as long as the meaning went through.

The grammar:
* Each simple word is called an atom because they are the basic building blocks
* Each complex word is called a molecule. Well that's pretty obvious why.

Basically anything can be said as one wishes as long as you allow the subject to be known, if it is needed.

You don't need to make a word feminine or masculine, but it is suggested, to clear up what the relation of what your talking about is.

For example (de) points the subject to something, somewhat like "you", by adding (te) to it to make (dete) we make it known we mean a woman. (dete) is basically "she" or "her".

And on if we add (h) to the end and make (deteh) it makes it plural. Making the subject more then one. Basically meaning "those/these women" in that one word.

Also like many languages like Korean and Japanese it relies on what can be assumed. If it can be assumed then it doesn't need to be said. Saying (lanu) can mean "let's run fast" "I'll run fast" or etc. based on the situation it's used in.

Finally it is suggested to keep the atom being described by other atoms in the back of the molecule. for example Porah roughly translates into "tongues of passion" but atom to word it means "passion tongues"

(po) meaning passion + (ra) meaning tongues + (h) making it plural

(po) describes (ra)

*p.s. specials Im, de, and el go on the front of the molecule, all other specials go on the back
Please tell me your ideas and what you think, and please remember the language is still in touch up stages. the language table is in the PDF
